Meet Our Instructor
Our instructor, Ms. Kate Iwanami is a former school teacher and has been playing piano herself over 45 years. She has over 15 years of experience in teaching piano students from age three to adults at all different levels. She loves music, piano, and at most, teaching.

Ms. Kate is classically trained but also plays pop, contemporary, jazz, blues, ragtime, etc. Other than the piano, she plays the violin and cello, and she enjoys singing. She strives to grow as a teacher as well as a music player.

Ms. Kate is a member of the Music Teachers' Association of California (MTAC) and able to teach students who would like to pursue Certificate of Merits (CM).

Ms. Kate believes in power of being able to read sheet music. Her first goal for a beginner student is to teach how to read sheet music. She believes that being able to read music is the basis for playing any instrument, including piano.

Learning how to play the piano takes certain level of discipline. However, Ms. Kate's lesson plan always includes FUN PLAY TIME.
